Pedestrian Accidents in Georgia
Pedestrians are the most vulnerable parties on our roads in Georgia, which means that they are likely to become seriously injured or killed in an accident. Pedestrians typically have the right-of-way on our roads but drivers do not always abide by these rules, which is why individuals are sometimes killed in Georgia pedestrian accidents. In 2018, it was reported that approximately 260 lives were lost as a result of pedestrian accidents within the state. It is up to you as the family of a loved one to show that a driver acted negligently and caused the death of your loved one. It is crucial that you speak with an attorney that you can trust after a fatal accident.
Moving forward after a fatal pedestrian accident is never easy to do, especially because families are not always sure about what steps they should take. Holding a party responsible for their actions can help a family come to terms with their losses. Pedestrian accidents are typically caused by the following reasons:
- Driving under the influence
- Talking on the phone or otherwise being distracted
- Violating traffic signals
- Failing to yield the right-of-way
- Disregarding the speed limit
If you have lost someone you love in a pedestrian accident, you have options. You should be prepared to seek the assistance of a Snellville wrongful death attorney in your time of need.
