Rome, GA – Pedestrian Accident on Watters St Leads to Injuries and Charges
Rome, GA (September 20, 2021) – On the morning of Monday, September 20, a pedestrian accident with injuries occurred in Rome.
According to Floyd County officials, the accident happened on Watters Street. A man was walking in the area when he was suddenly struck by a passenger vehicle. The driver, identified as a 26-year-old woman, allegedly left her lane of travel to strike the pedestrian. She then fled the scene without stopping.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The pedestrian, who has not yet been formally identified, sustained a muscle contusion on his leg due to the collision.
The driver of the vehicle was later found by police. She has since been charged with aggravated assault, failing to maintain a lane, failing to report an accident, driving with a suspended license, and more.
The roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time as police cleared the scene.
No further details have been released but the investigation into the accident continues.
