Cleveland, GA – Children Injured in Head-on Collision on US-129
Cleveland, GA (October 8, 2021) – Around 6 p.m. on Thursday evening, October 7, a head-on collision injured several children in Cleveland.
According to Georgia State Patrol officials, the accident happened on US-129 near the area of Marvin Miles Road. A man in a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck was headed north when he traveled over the center line, striking a Chevrolet Tahoe driven by a 38-year-old woman from Clermont.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. A 14-year-old girl and a 2-year-old boy were riding in the Tahoe with the driver. The children, as well as both drivers, were rushed to local hospitals for treatment of their injuries. These injuries ranged from minor to severe in nature.
Troopers believe that the driver of the pickup truck was tired and could have fallen asleep at the wheel. The driver was charged with failing to maintain his lane.
The roadway was blocked in the area for a period of time.
No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
