Clarkesville, GA – Pedestrian Accident with Injuries on Helen Hwy
Clarkesville, GA (October 12, 2021) – On Monday, October 11, a pedestrian accident with injuries occurred on a major highway in Clarkesville.
According to Georgia State Patrol officials, the accident happened in the northbound lanes of Helen Highway around the area of Hardman Road. A 19-year-old woman was driving her Kia in the area when she suddenly lost control, causing the vehicle to go off the east shoulder of the road. The vehicle then struck an embankment and started to overturn. While overturning, her vehicle collided with a 75-year-old man who was walking on the trail alongside the road.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The pedestrian was seriously injured in the accident. He was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center for treatment of his injuries. Nobody else was hurt in the accident.
The roadway was blocked in the area of the accident for a period of time as police worked to clear the scene.
No further details have been released but the investigation remains ongoing.
