Athens, GA – Injuries Reported in Car Crash at Carlton St & River Rd

Athens, GA (October 22, 2021) – At 5:35 p.m. on Thursday afternoon, October 21, a car crash with injuries occurred at an intersection in Athens.

According to the University of Georgia Police Department, the accident happened at the intersection of Carlton Street and River Road. Two or more vehicles were traveling in the area when they collided with each other after entering the intersection. The vehicles involved in the accident were badly damaged as a result.

Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those with injuries. One or more victims were injured as a result of the accident. It is not known if the injured parties were hospitalized.

The roadway was blocked in the area of the intersection for a period of time. Police quickly worked to clear the scene.

No further details have been released but the investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
