Acworth, GA – Serious Motorcycle Accident with Injuries on Cherokee St
Acworth, GA (December 27, 2021) – At 6:15 p.m. on the evening of Sunday, December 26, a motorcycle accident with injuries occurred in Acworth.
According to Cobb County Police, the accident happened on Cherokee Street around the area of Lake Acworth Drive. A 47-year-old motorcyclist was traveling south and entering the intersection when a GMC Sierra suddenly exited the parking lot of a gas station and entered the path of the motorcyclist. This caused the two to collide, ending in the motorcycle overturning.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene. Because the motorcyclist was thrown from his bike, he was seriously injured in the collision. He was rushed to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital for treatment of his injuries.
The driver of the GMC, identified as an adult male, was charged for the accident. His charges included DUI, failing to yield, and causing a serious injury by vehicle.
No further details have been released but the investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
